“It's over”: the head of the French office of Twitter announced his resignation.

Published: 2022-11-21

The massive staff cuts initiated by Twitter's new owner Elon Musk weren't limited to US employees. Earlier, the Twitter division in India was almost completely reduced, and in the European direction, the head of the French office of Damien Viel unwittingly announced the proximity of such changes, announcing his resignation on Sunday. “It’s all over,” Wil wrote and thanked his colleagues for their joint work.

Ville (pictured right) led Twitter France for about seven years and led a team of no more than 50 people. According to Bloomberg, today Elon Musk will begin a new round of staff cuts on a global scale, focusing on specialists in the field of interaction with corporate clients and advertisers. Damien Ville declined to comment on what circumstances contributed to his decision to leave Twitter, as well as to discuss the number of staff in France, which remains after Elon Musk's reforms.

Recall that at the end of last week, Musk offered to stay on Twitter only to employees motivated to continue hard work in order to radically reform the social platform itself. At the same time, he tried to call on the help of specialists who took part in writing the code for this social network, inviting them for personal interviews on Friday and Saturday. For most employees, Twitter's offices were closed on Friday, as the company's management has defended itself for the second time since the end of October in a similar fashion against giving access to proprietary information to already laid-off employees. Some experts expressed concern that the reduction in the technical staff, designed to ensure the viability of Twitter, could lead to catastrophic consequences for the functioning of the platform.
