Twitter lures advertisers with $250,000 worth of free placements.
Of Twitter's $5.1 billion in 2021 revenue, approximately 90% came from advertisers, and since Elon Musk's takeover of the social network in late October, many companies have suspended advertising on its pages. Now Twitter is trying to lure customers with a special offer, providing free advertising space worth up to $250,000.
As The Wall Street Journal explains, customers are required to pay the same $250,000 in ads to get twice as much space. The offer will be valid until February 28 this year. According to experts, Twitter wants to attract advertisers by the time of the American Football Super Bowl, which is scheduled for February 13th. Traditionally, this major sporting event has provided Twitter with the highest daily ad revenue.
Previous attempts have been made to attract advertisers with even more generous promotions. Customers had to buy $500,000 worth of ads to get $500,000 more for free. Under Elon Musk, the long-term bet is on subscription revenue, but for now, the Twitter economy continues on its old ways, with a heavy reliance on ad revenue. At the same time, about 75 of the 100 largest Twitter advertisers have not yet returned to the pages of the social network after completing the deal to sell the company's assets to Elon Musk at the end of October last year.
There are certain conditions for clients wishing to receive free advertising space for $250,000. They should, in particular, take advantage of the new tools offered by Twitter. One of them is a list of 1,000 undesirable keywords, at the mention of which by users, advertising of a particular company should not appear on the pages of the social network.
