Keychron has expanded its portfolio with the Q1 Pro wireless mechanical keyboard, which features an all-aluminum chassis, hot-swappable switches and an optional Mac layout. The keyboard is fully customizable by the user using the QMK/VIA configurator.

QMK (Quantum Mechanical Keyboard) is an open source project that allows you to create your own keyboard firmware to manage lighting effects, macros, custom keycodes, and mouse commands on different layout layers. The VIA Configurator allows users to intuitively remap any key on the keyboard and create numerous macros, keyboard shortcuts, or key combinations. If the keyboard supports multiple configurations for different operating systems such as Windows and Mac, users can configure different settings for each configuration.

A Keychron spokesperson noted that they received "rave reviews" for their Q1 wired mechanical keyboard, with the only request from customers being wireless connectivity. The Q1 Pro provides this functionality thanks to Bluetooth 5.1. There is also the possibility of a wired connection. The novelty is made in the so-called 75 percent layout (without a numeric keypad) in a fully aluminum case.

The company says it will be "the first mass-produced all-aluminum wireless keyboard in history that can be fully customized using QMK/VIA software."

Also for Keychron Q1 Pro, the ability to simultaneously connect up to 3 devices, the availability of interchangeable caps for macOS and Windows, compatibility with Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems is noted. Inside there is an ultra-low power Arm chip with 128KB flash memory for saving settings, and a 1000Hz polling rate when connected wired. Dual damper design provides noise reduction and improved typing comfort, while switch stabilizers provide a smoother typing experience. There is also a programmable encoder for customization.

Pre-orders for the Q1 Pro were collected through the Kickstarter crowdfunding system. Remarkably, in just a few hours, the goal of raising $50,000 for the Q1 Pro was reached. The platform itself — the Q1 Pro case without switches or keycaps — is available for a starting price of $174. For a complete set of keyboards with all the options, they are already asking for $ 194. It is expected that the first deliveries will begin in April.
