AMD Unveils Ryzen 7000 AI Mobile Processors at CES.

Published: 2023-01-05

At CES 2023 in Las Vegas, AMD announced a lot of products, including solutions designed for laptops. In particular, AMD demonstrated high-performance Ryzen 7000 series mobile processors. In addition, some models of the new series will combine hardware AI solutions with x86 CPUs for the first time.

The hardware component traditional for processors is supplemented with Ryzen AI technology. Technology based on AMD XDNA "adaptive" architecture will only be available on select models of the 7040 series processors for processing AI algorithms. According to AMD, processors with Ryzen AI outperform Apple's M2 chipsets (up to 20% improvement) while being 50% more power efficient. At the same time, cooperation with Microsoft will further expand the experience when using new models with Windows 11.

Ryzen 7045HX are designed for "mobile gamers". The processors of the series received up to 16 cores on the Zen 4 architecture (with 32 threads). Built on 5nm technology, the solutions provide support for DDR5 memory, up to 18% faster in single-core tests and up to 78% in multi-core tests compared to the 6900HX model. Systems based on these processors will be available in Alienware, ASUS, Lenovo and MSI products from February. For example, according to Lenovo, they will appear in the Legion series - the company claims that these will be the most powerful AMD gaming laptops ever released by the company.

The Ryzen 7040HS series includes processors with up to 8 cores based on the Zen 4 architecture. The processors received integrated GPUs based on the AMD RDNA architecture and are designed for ultra-thin laptops. Made in accordance with the 4nm process technology, Ryzen 7040HS provides high performance for light and thin systems.

According to AMD, Ryzen 7040HS processors deliver up to 34% faster performance than the competition and up to 21% faster gaming performance. Solutions based on these options will be available from OEM partners from March 2023.

Ryzen 7035 processors are built on 6nm technology and will receive up to 8 cores. They are specially designed to provide maximum battery life. The modules are based on the Zen 3+ architecture. New items will be used by Acer, ASUS, HP and Lenovo from January.

AMD Ryzen 7030 will feature up to 8 cores on the Zen 3 architecture and provide a "balance of power, proven performance and efficiency" to "get the most out of" their systems. Processors will receive integrated GPUs of the Radeon family. Ryzen 7030 laptops will be available from HP, Acer, Lenovo and ASUS from January.

Finally, the Ryzen PRO 7030 is built using the 7nm process technology on the Zen 3 architecture, and delivers “proven performance” and “exceptional” computer battery life – the perfect fit for today’s hybrid workflow. Models support AMD PRO technologies for layered security and other enterprise-grade solutions.

Systems based on the Ryzen PRO 7030 will appear in HP and Lenovo computers from February 2023.

At the same show, AMD also introduced other solutions, such as the Radeon RX 7000 family of mobile graphics with RDNA 3 architecture.
